We believe every great day on the mountain begins with awareness, confidence, and responsibility.
Meet Amanda
Co-founder, first tracks
Amanda Meyers has spent her life helping people find confidence—first on the slopes, then in her family, throughout her community, and now through First Tracks.
Growing up in Southern California, Amanda learned to ski during family trips to Vail, Colorado. Back home, she spent countless afternoons skiing at Snow Summit in Big Bear, where she proudly introduced her younger sister, Kimberly, to the sport they would both come to love.
As a teenager, Amanda became a highly sought-after babysitter for visiting families at Bear Mountain. Many of her ski days were spent introducing young children to the sport while giving their parents time to enjoy the mountain. It was there that she discovered how much she loved helping children move from “I can’t do this” to “This is awesome.”
When her family later moved to Vermont, Amanda traded California sunshine for New England winters and continued working with families at Killington. Although she still jokingly calls herself a “fair weather skier,” her love for the speed, challenge, and community of the mountain has never faded.
Amanda’s natural ability to connect with people has shaped every part of her life. Friends and family describe her as personable, friendly, and someone who makes others feel comfortable. She calls it her “gift of gab,” but underneath it is a genuine interest in people and a desire to make them feel welcome.
Those qualities led to a successful career in sales, where Amanda built relationships by listening, understanding others, and earning their trust.
They also shaped what became her greatest role—being a mother. Amanda raised three daughters before blending families and creating a household of eight children. She worked to build a home centered on kindness, responsibility, encouragement, and self-control. One of the most important lessons she has taught her children is to understand others before judging them and to remember that their choices affect the people around them.
Amanda’s commitment to helping others has extended far beyond her own family. She served on Parent Teacher Organizations, volunteered through Rotary, and spent many years leading a nonprofit organization focused on epilepsy awareness, supporting families, and creating opportunities for young adults with special needs.
Whether she is encouraging a nervous beginner, supporting a family, organizing a community event, or talking with someone she has just met on a chairlift, Amanda finds genuine joy in helping people feel welcome, capable, and connected.
That same passion became part of the foundation of First Tracks.
After returning to skiing more regularly, Amanda noticed that many new skiers and snowboarders were learning how to ride, but few were being taught how to share the mountain responsibly. A minor collision involving her young son, Thomas, led to an important conversation with Kimberly and eventually sparked the creation of First Tracks.
Today, Amanda lives in Massachusetts, just minutes from her sister. Together, they have combined Amanda’s lifelong passion for teaching and building confidence with Kimberly’s elite skiing experience and expertise in risk management.
Amanda hopes First Tracks helps children become more aware of others, understand that their decisions matter, and develop the confidence to make responsible choices—even when that means encouraging their friends to do the same.
Because in Amanda’s eyes, the greatest skiers and snowboarders are not remembered for how fast they went down the mountain.
They are remembered for the people they helped along the way.
Meet kimberly
co-founder, first tracks
Kimberly Rogers has spent her life pursuing excellence—first as an elite alpine ski racer and later as a leader in risk management and accident prevention. Those two paths ultimately came together to help shape the vision behind First Tracks.
Kimberly's skiing journey began as a young girl when her older sister, Amanda, introduced her to the sport. What started as family ski trips quickly became a passion. Determined to challenge herself, Kimberly immersed herself in competitive skiing and developed a love for pushing her limits.
Her dedication earned her a place at the prestigious Stratton Mountain School, where she trained alongside some of the country's top young alpine racers. She later became a member of the U.S. Development Team and competed throughout the United States and Europe, specializing in downhill racing—where preparation, discipline, and split-second decision-making are essential.
Kimberly went on to compete in numerous elite events, including Europa Cup races, before attending Bates College. There, she earned All-American honors in alpine skiing and remains the only female alpine skier in the college's history to achieve that distinction.
After college, Kimberly built a distinguished career spanning more than thirty years in insurance, workers' compensation, risk management, and organizational leadership. She has led high-performing teams, developed risk management strategies, and worked with employers to create safer workplaces.
Throughout her career, Kimberly has managed thousands of workers' compensation claims and collaborated with employers, insurance carriers, medical professionals, attorneys, and safety experts. Those experiences taught her that preventing accidents is always more effective than responding to them after they happen.
Whether on a racecourse, in the workplace, or on the mountain, Kimberly has found that the same principles consistently lead to better outcomes: preparation, awareness, good decision-making, and personal responsibility.
When she and Amanda began skiing together more regularly again, Kimberly noticed that while new skiers and snowboarders were learning the skills to ride, many had never been taught how to share the mountain responsibly. A minor collision involving Amanda's young son, Thomas, became the catalyst for an important conversation between the sisters—one that ultimately led to the creation of First Tracks.
Today, Kimberly combines a lifetime of skiing experience with decades of expertise in risk management, accident prevention, leadership, and safety education to help young skiers and snowboarders build habits that will serve them for years to come.
While competitive racing has given way to family ski trips and recreational skiing, Kimberly's love for the mountains remains as strong as ever. Some of her favorite days are still spent skiing alongside Amanda, sharing the same joy that first inspired them as young girls.
Kimberly believes that great skiers and snowboarders are defined by more than their ability. They are defined by the choices they make, the awareness they demonstrate, and the respect they show to everyone who shares the mountain.
Our vision
We envision a future where every day on the mountain ends the way it should—with families sharing stories, celebrating great runs, and looking forward to their next adventure together.
We believe that every skier and snowboarder, regardless of age or ability, deserves the knowledge and confidence to enjoy the mountain safely, responsibly, and with respect for those around them.
Our vision is to help create a mountain culture where awareness comes naturally, responsibility is embraced, and confidence is earned through preparation, good judgment, and experience.
As First Tracks grows, we hope to make mountain responsibility education a natural part of every skier's and snowboarder's journey—supporting families, schools, ski clubs, instructors, and resorts in creating stronger, safer, and more welcoming mountain communities.
Above all, we hope to inspire a lifelong love of skiing and snowboarding by helping people understand that the best days on the mountain aren't measured by how fast you ski or how many runs you take.
They're measured by the memories you make, the people you share them with, and the care you show for one another.
Because when we all choose to Own Your Line, everyone enjoys a better day on the mountain.
